Impeccable Customer Service Tip #759
Occasionally, you’ll discover — together with your client — that you have a mutual acquaintance/friend/neighbor/colleague. Find something nice to say about that 3rd party. If you’re unable to find something nice to say, then you shouldn’t say anything.
Steve,
I like this tip!
I’ve been in this position many times and though it is hard to bite your tongue when that third party person has wronged you, I do keep this in mind and fight the temptation to say something negative. A couple of years ago, I had this customer who stiffed me for a few thousand dollars in a neighborhood where I have 15 other clients. Every time his name comes up in conversation, all I want to say is “oh, well let me tell you about the time that schmuck hosed me for $3k!”.
I feel better now. Thanks!
Better to vent here I suppose, Jeff. Proud of you for taking the high road, my friend.
