Your client’s favorite topic is … him/herself. Ask clients about themselves (likes, interests, hobbies, history, opinions, etc.) and don’t be so quick to start talking about you, unless asked.


  1. Too true, Steve. Often, I find the best providers of any service and my best clients come from a casual conversation about common interests. Only after a rapport is built do we discuss what they/I do for work.
