Impeccable Customer Service Tip #638

Burnt bridges close off entire towns.

When a client chooses to no longer be your client and you realize there’s nothing you can do — at least for now — to retain them, be sure to acknowledge their patronage and extend a sincere and kind sendoff.

They may return someday … or at least be inclined to speak kindly of you … which certainly beats the alternative.

  1. We just had an experience with the Marriott Tampa Waterside in which we could not accept a proposal they had made to us. In their follow up they reduce a fee for some other services as a way to thank us for letting them bid on the business they didn’t get. You bet we’ll try next time.to do more business with them.

  2. Interesting example, Carolyn. Thank you for sharing.
